State Bank of Pakistan has directed Islamic banks to offer products other than conventional products having fixed return. The Acting Governor of SBP, Yaseen Anwar in his speech at a seminar, stated that Islamic banking model is based on mimicking conventional banking products. He also said that “Islamic Banks and Financial Institutions need to develop new products based on risk and reward sharing principles rather than the existing products offering fixed rates of return.”
