ISLAMABAD: Mr. Syed Ibn-e-Hassan Vice President Public Relations while talking with the journalists said that the appointment of the new president of National Bank of Pakistan Mr. Qamar Hussain is being made purely on merit basis, and all the rules and regulations in this regard are duly followed. He also cancelled the negative impression created in the media regarding the appointment and commented that, Mr Qamar Hussain is a senior banker having vast experience.
Under his leadership NBP has touched new heights in financial world, despite facing current financial crunch and difficulties. The NBP is being been recently awarded as the best bank in Pakistan, and is also being included in the Top 100 banks of the world. Global Finance journal; one of the leading financial magazines has also considered NBP as the best foreign exchange bank in Pakistan. Under his leader ship, following the best policies and professional approach, NBP has acquired ‘AAA’ rating by the JCR-VIS credit rating agency.
Mr. Hassan further informed journalists that, prior to working for NPB in 2009 he has worked for American Express Bank as Senior Director Global Credit in New York and earlier had also worked as Country Manager for Bangladesh.
He also added that, Mr. Qamar Hussain is a distinguished banker having rich experience of working in Corporate Finance, Credit and Risk Management sectors. He has excellent skills in strategic planning and business management. During his service tenure with NBP, he played significant role in re-organizing the field structure of the bank throughout the country, strengthened Risk and Credit function along with improvements in functionality of Corporate and Investment banking group. Mr. Qamar Hussain holds an MBA degree from Mc-Gill University, Canada and has also acquired extensive training in business leadership abroad.
