The Reformed GST planned to be imposed from October 1, 2010 has been further delayed till November 1, 2010 as Federal Government and Provincial Governments could not reach to consensus on certain issues raised. The IMF officials might be visiting Pakistan during October to discuss the milestones / targets set and their achievement under the Standby- Arrangements. On the other hand, the federal government has also planned to present a fresh bill in Parliament for its approval. The IMF has also delayed its 5th review on the request of GOP as the reformed GST could not be implemented from July 01, 2010. Sindh Government also has issues on the collection of this Reformed GST on services. According to Ministry of Finance, this delay in following the instructions from IMF might result in dissatisfaction of major lenders like IMF, World Bank and Asian Development. As a result our economy might come under high pressure and difficulties.
