The annual meeting of IMF – World Bank has started at Tokyo. Financial delegations from around 188 countries of the world are participating in the event. Pakistani delegation led by Finance Minister Dr. Abdul Hafeez has also reached Tokyo to join the annual meeting. Other participant members of his team are Mr. Wajid Rana Finance Secretary, Mr. Yaseen Anwar Governor State Bank of Pakistan, Mr. Javed Iqbal Secretary Economic Affairs Division and Mr. Nadeem ul Haq Deputy Chairman Planning Commission.
The participant countries will share their issues and problems and also come up with new financial prospects for improving their economies. Pakistani delegation members; Secretary Economic Affairs Division and Deputy Chairman Planning Commission from Pakistan have also participated in a two-day dialogue on disaster prevention held in Sendai on Tuesday. During this event reconstruction efforts by Japan at Sendai were also shared with member countries.
The Pakistani Finance Minister also met with the Managing Director of World Bank Sri Mulyani Indrawati. Pakistan’s economic situation and fiscal health and initiatives taken by the Government of Pakistan for improving financial situation and support to trade and industry were subject matter of the discussion among the two.
Mr. Abdul Hafeez also highlighted the achievements of Pakistani government for controlling the expenditure and inflation.
