The Government of Pakistan has decided to ask International Monetary Fund experts to help in convincing the Provincial governments for the implementation of RGST. The Ministry of Finance has invited the IMF Experts from Australia and America along with the author of RGST to provide help in convincing provinces and give explanations for negotiating the issues/reservations raised by different parties.  On the other hand the Government has also asked IMF to grant extension in implementation of RGST. The current deadline is about to end on December 31, 2010. The disbursement of next tranche of $3.4 billion dollars is due subject to the implementation of RGST. The Provincial governments has informed the federal government that implementation of RGST can only be possible once the reservations of all the political parties are resolved. The Government has already taken steps to eliminate subsidy provided on electricity by increasing the tariffs.
